PayPal (branded as PayPal in mainland China) is an Internet service provider founded by Peter Thiel and Max Levchin in December 1998. It is headquartered in San Jose, California, USA. Unlike traditional methods of mailing checks, remittances, etc., it allows funds to be transferred between users identified by email. It cooperates with some e-commerce websites and has become the mainstream online payment method today.
